Hobnob 12: David Knight Legg

Sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone – or at least until you’ve been away from it for a while. David Knight Legg was born in Lethbridge, attended Oxford and Yale, and spent more than 20 years living and working in cities like Hong Kong, New York, Sydney and London. He’s spent his career working around the world in global management consulting, capital markets advice and research, and international banking, but now he’s come home to take the helm of the newly formed Invest Alberta Corporation.

Living abroad has given him a deep appreciation of how lucky Alberta really is, even while he acknowledges that times are hard. His keen, insightful analysis of our strengths reveals exciting possibilities, ways for Alberta and Canada to become not just economically powerful, but a powerhouse for social and environmental good in the world. Those things are deeply linked, and if you want to know how Alberta’s poised to succeed on all those fronts, David can show you the numbers.

A lot of that success depends on doing a better job of telling Alberta’s story. Standing up and saying we’re the best might not come naturally to Canadians, but we don’t do much good for anyone being coy, and Invest Alberta is out to tell the world’s greatest companies, investors and entrepreneurs why coming to Alberta is the best move they can make. Listen to David and Justin’s chat about our province’s world-changing potential here.
